what's to be done? This papacy had made it conceivable that priests could reject the new translation in toto, pick what they like and leave what they don't, substitute the 1998 translation as an experiment by comparison with the new one, or stick to the present translation which they're used to. There are hardly any bishops likely to put the hammer down. these are truly remarkable times we are living in.

Given the recent developments in the Church in the last several years, a fair question is: are Pope Benedict and the members of the hierarchy that surround him actually pastors? Are they good shepherds?
